Your provider will review your skin, health information, treatment area, and previous procedures before recommending an option.

SkinPen Microneedling may be considered for adults age 22 and older who want to address concerns within the device’s authorized uses.
A consultation may be appropriate if you:
SkinPen Microneedling is not suitable for every person or concern. Active acne lesions, infection, irritated skin, open wounds, certain medications, poor healing, and other health factors may affect candidacy.
New, changing, bleeding, painful, or otherwise concerning skin findings require medical evaluation before aesthetic treatment.
SkinPen uses small needles to create controlled microscopic punctures in the treatment area.
These controlled injuries initiate the skin’s natural wound-healing response. Visible changes develop gradually as the skin heals.
A new sterile cartridge should be used for every patient and every treatment session. Needle cartridges must never be reused.
SkinPen Microneedling is different from radiofrequency microneedling. SkinPen does not deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin.

The hydrogel should not be described as delivering medication, vitamins, or other active ingredients into the skin.
Your provider will explain the product being used and provide post-treatment skincare instructions.
The FDA has not cleared SkinPen or another microneedling device to deliver PRP into the skin. The FDA has also not reviewed the safety or effectiveness of combining microneedling with PRP.
PRP should not be passed through the SkinPen device or represented as part of SkinPen’s FDA-cleared indication.
Your provider should explain:
You should understand this distinction before consenting to treatment.
Because PRP is made from your own blood, it still requires appropriate collection, preparation, handling, and use.
PRP does not guarantee improved healing or a better aesthetic result.
Use for other concerns or treatment areas may fall outside SkinPen’s cleared indications.
Your provider should explain whether the proposed treatment is within the device’s authorized use before you consent.
SkinPen Microneedling does not produce an immediate final result.
The treated skin needs time to heal, and more than one session may be recommended.
SkinPen Microneedling may improve the appearance of appropriate concerns, but it cannot completely erase scars or stop future changes in the skin.
If SkinPen is appropriate, your provider will explain:
Tell your provider about:
Do not stop prescribed medication unless instructed by the prescribing healthcare professional.
Follow all preparation instructions provided by the Lawa team.
Temporary effects may include:
Less common risks include infection, changes in skin color, reactivation of cold sores, prolonged irritation, scarring, and results that do not meet expectations.
During recovery:
Contact the Lawa team if you experience worsening pain, spreading redness, drainage, fever, extensive blistering, significant swelling, difficulty breathing, or another concerning reaction.
Your consultation may include other Lawa aesthetic options when appropriate.
